Kindness is a superpower

Since the idea for this site came about because of what I refer to as the DUO method (Do Unto Others), I offer this challenge to each and every one of you. Do something nice for someone. Don’t do it for recognition or thanks. Do it because you just want to be kind.

Pay attention! Pay attention to your surroundings. Pay attention to other people’s tone of voice. Pay attention to the stranger struggling to carry a box into the post office or the person you’re getting ready to pass in the hallway who looks stressed and just needs someone to smile and say, “Good morning. I hope you have a great day!”

It doesn’t have to cost you money or be a big thing, just some act of kindness. There is always something we can do. Instead of letting that coat that you can no longer fit into sit in your closet, give it to someone in need. Look around, there are plenty of people in need.

One of the things I do is I keep a couple of gallon size ziplocs in my car and they have travel size items like toothpaste, soap, hand sanitizer, lotion, shampoo, deodorant, a toothbrush, a comb and maybe a $5 bill. This is so if I pass someone that looks in need, I can offer them something. It can mean a lot to a person that may feel alone in the world to know someone does care, even a stranger.

You will find that connecting with someone, even on a small scale through acts of kindness can fulfill you in surprising ways. Come on, accept the challenge!
