a stranger

Initially I started with a somewhat impersonal website with an entirely different concept. Although it didn’t feel right, I thought maybe it was just because I didn’t have much experience in the digital world. However, I have learned to trust my instincts more, so I reached out to another expert to get his opinion. Keep in mind that he was someone I found on a business site, I didn’t know him personally. I just chose him based on his professional description and business reviews. His name is Raza and my interaction with him made me remember that everyone comes into your life for a reason.

Raza took the time to understand what I was ultimately trying to accomplish and how personal and emotional the project was to me and said, “Stop! I don’t think the direction you are going will give you the results you are looking for”. I wasn’t offended and I wanted to know why he thought that, so I asked him. He explained that if my intent is to help people by sharing my experiences throughout my life, then a blog is the way to do it. I didn’t need the type of business website someone had built for me just so I could get my voice out. Not only was I taken aback by Raza’s understanding and compassion but also his level of knowledge.

So, I decided one of the articles should be about how anyone, even a stranger can unknowingly change the course of your life. Through my conversations with Raza, I was reinvigorated whereas I had been having doubts about my path which was causing me to put the brakes on some things. That lead to me thinking about all the people that have come into my life and how it has affected me. Even the people that came into my life and hurt me in some ways have helped me. Maybe a situation was painful, but maybe it led me to seek a new job or move to a different location or just choose a new hobby. What I have realized about life is that if we move through the pain instead of giving in to it, we always come out the other side better off. Some of the things I have been through make me a survivor, but I do take a lot of comfort in the fact that I am no longer a victim!
