a heart tree

For most of us, it’s a lot easier to focus on the bad around us because it’s more front and center. Headlines are rarely good news. News channels don’t interrupt programs with breaking good news. We usually have to go looking for the good news. So how do you keep looking up?

You fight for what you believe in. Figuratively speaking, you say “F you“ to those that have hurt you. You say “I love you” to the people who deserve it, and you do that by your actions.

For instance, I believe in spreading hope and lifting people up. So my action is writing these articles for my blog and publishing my book to reach people in crisis and to create a resource page so people that need help have a place to start.

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Be the change you want to see in the world”. So, if you want the world to be kinder, spread kindness. If you want to be supported, then be supportive.

Many of us think happiness is just supposed to come to us and if it doesn’t, we look for circumstances to blame it on. Let me tell you, happiness takes work, but in the same token, happiness energizes us, so it keeps you motivated to keep working to maintain it.

It’s a different world now. We live in an instant gratification world. It’s no one’s fault really. But literally, almost everything is at our finger tips; communication, education, news, movies, tv on demand, online flirting, etc. So when we don’t wake up and feel happy, we wonder what’s wrong. Why isn’t it right there like everything else? We fill our minutes, hours and days with instants but they don’t fill our hearts and our souls. Think about this, we watch a movie, it lasts hours and it ends, we move on. We binge watch a TV series, it ends and we move on. We watch the news. It ends and then we move on to the next news channel to find a new, interesting or informative story. Nothing instant really provides us any depth.

If you’re looking for fulfillment and can’t seem to find it, I’ll say this…nothing fulfilling comes instantly. Start now, take time and work to see, hear and feel the good around you. It’s there!
